introducing the new, innovative
What is it? How does it work?A Warrens animated graphic is similar to neon but far more realistic because it operates as a backlit light source behind a high resolution printed image. The image is divided into several different sections of phosphor lamp that can be individually illuminated independently of one another. Each section is programmed and sequenced at the time of manufacture and hard wired into a computer chip. When the program is run, it creates the appearance of movement within the static printed image. An animated graphic is an eye-catching, moving electronic display that utlises high quality, full colour digital images yet is as thin a credit card! It is energy efficient – less than 40 Watts per square metre. It is virtually unbreakable, vibration and shock resistant, easy to install, very portable, and does not contain glass.
Environmentally friendlyThe animated graphic has excellent environmental credentials. An 800x2000mm graphic uses only 60 Watts of energy when it is completely lit, the same as a 60W light bulb, but as it is only completely lit for a small part of its operating cycle, it probably only uses 20W as an average. If you compare this with a static light box of the same size using flourescent tubes, which can consume up to 400W, the cost savings become significant and therefore the user’s carbon footprint is diminished. If it is used for 12 hours per day for 365 days, a 800x2000mm animated sign using 20W would cost less than £10.00 per year to run. A flourescent light box using 400W would cost £175.20 per year to run (based on 10p/kWh) How much does it cost?Animated graphics are priced dependant on size, complexity of animation and quantity. Because each element has to be individually connected, the more elements, the greater the cost. To provide an accurate costing to the client, we need either a jpeg of a pdf of the artwork along with a description of the required animation sequence. When the client has provided this information, we will supply an animated gif file for them to approve along with the costs based on that animation. There is a set up cost for each job, unlike screen or litho set up where the screen or plate can be stored for use again. Because of the delicate nature of the template used to make the animation, a new set up is required for each production run and this cost needs to be taken into account. Delivery lead time from approval of costs and animation is 4-6 weeks. Animated graphics can be made for outdoor use and can be made up to billboard size. Due to cost restraints, billboards are normally only partially animated. The Warrens animated graphic is a light bulb and although it is very robust, it needs to be treated as such. It should not be creased, folded or rolled tightly.
